Mr. Ling received his Bachelor’s degree from University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. He completed his Master’s degree as part of the Gender Cognitions and Development Lab and is currently a Ph.D. student in the program.  His research explores how experiences that draw positive, negative, or neutral attention to an adolescent’s ethnicity (a phenomenon he has dubbed “ethnic highlighting”) are related to ethnic-based in-group favoritism, self-esteem, and ethnic identity exploration, with a particular interest in the experiences of Asian-Americans.
